The Dance Hotspot team wanted a custom app to help members of Austin, TX’s vibrant swing dancing community find events in their area that matched their preferences and experience level. X Factor crafted a brand and website for Dance Hotspot, and developed the app itself for Android and IOS.

X Factor created a custom brand for Dance Hotspot, taking cues from the Art Deco aesthetic commonly depicted in the 1920s when Swing Dancing was first popularized. This meant arches, fans, and lots of gold!

These themes were woven into every aspect of the brand’s presentation, from the logo and social media posts to the design of the app itself. This created a holistic and consistent experience for all users, everywhere.

We designed a branded, mobile-first splash page that highlights key features of the app and provides download links for IOS and Android. This served as a great jumping-off point for new users to learn more about the app before downloading it.

In keeping with the app’s goal of making it as easy as possible for users to find new dance venues, the app features Facebook login integration so users can join instantaneously.

Upon logging in, users are treated to a visual map of all available events in the area. The app displays key information specific to each event, such as the number of attending dancers who are “leads” or “follows.” Dancers can get quick navigation directions to the event of their choice, as well as view past attendance numbers broken down by kinds of dancers.
