With over 40,000 active members, Saint William Catholic Church needed a professional and comprehensive online presence to keep their parishioners informed and their staff organized. We worked closely with St. William staff to replace their legacy site with a fresh, modern, mobile-first redesign that would serve them well for years to come.

Website Redesign

The St. William staff wanted to replace their old website with a custom, multi-lingual website designed specifically for their parishioners. This involved a thorough pre-production process during which we met with all major stakeholders to gain a greater understanding of their needs and expectations for the new site. We spoke with parishioners, staff, and leadership of 10 different departments to gain a strong understanding of their unique perspectives. These discussions revealed a number of key takeaways:

Navigation

The legacy site’s navigation structure was inadequate and would need to be completely overhauled with new pages and categories to organize content more effectively.

Content

Much of the legacy site’s content was outdated and poorly organized. This meant that the new site’s content would need to be re-developed and given a consistent voice throughout.

Multi-Lingual

The new site would need to be multi-lingual to serve the Spanish-speaking community.

Donations

Parishioners struggled to donate money to the church through the legacy website, so the new site would need to simplify the giving process significantly.

The resulting website would be a 255-page, mobile-first, multi-lingual, easy-to-use site that catered to the needs of a broad range of stakeholders. Content was highly organized and much more focused, only featuring the information parishioners needed to find online, and funneling them to specific staff through contact forms for everything else.

Dynamic Translation

A significant percentage of parishioners at St. William speak Spanish as a first language, so having a multi-lingual site was a must. We created a site that dynamically translates all copy of the 255-page website to custom-written Spanish text at the click of a button.

Online Donations

Online giving was streamlined significantly, with stronger visual prompts and new payment options added. Our custom-built Venmo giving button automatically connects parishioners to the St. William giving portal in the app on their mobile phone, or auto-downloads it for them if they don’t have it already. All other giving options are handled directly through the site rather than forwarding users to a third-party site.
